Fuzzy Caterpillar Interrupts Lesson

This morning we went to the bike track to continue our "physical education with a little physics thrown in" lessons.   (Check out: Bible, the BMX track and Physics)

Jordan made his first run, then called me over excitedly. A fuzzy caterpillar was racing about on the track. Jordan was amazed at how fast it moved. We watched it for a while, thinking about the life and habits of fuzzy caterpillars, then finished our activity and went home, "late" for math. But, hey, it got done.

Are you a homeschooler?

What style of education do you use?

What was your favorite "interruption" recently?

My blog site is currently a "work in progress." I am playing with the look, reducing the amount of advertising and consilidating the labels so that things are easier to find. Comments and suggestions welcome. Look for changes over the next few weeks.

This is my first post for the October 2012 Ultimate Blog Challenge. I'm trying for 31 posts in 31 days, plus commenting on two posts by other people every day.

  2. Good morning Melinda! Thanks for visiting my site yesterday. Yes, we home school too! My daughter attended public school up till 7th grade, then we switched over. Originally, she was just going to do middle school (7 and 8th grade), but now I believe she is going to finish high school here at home. We use the Abeka program, which I find really difficult, especially for someone who has developmental delays and learning disabilities. But, we work hard and she is getting it. It just takes a little more time and some creative teaching on my part to get there LOL.
I can't say that we have had any real excitement lately. Michaela is pretty routine-oriented and even the smallest changes in schedule can uproot her from completing her tasks for the day. I try to keep everything as quiet as possible :)

    1. Hi Mary,

I have heard good things about Abeka. We have been homeschooling from the beginning -- Jordan is seventh grade now. He's bright, wonderful, impulsive, distractable, active, creative... we just go with it. I taught kids with developmental disabilities for years, so I get "routine - oriented!" Quiet can be very good!

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I like the new look!

You are amazing with the Ultimate Blog Challenge. I don't think I could write every day. I'm aiming for once a week right now. I do enjoy your blog, so I am looking forward to reading something every day.
