Song for Sunday: I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

Sometimes it's hard to live in the moment.

I heard this song at school and it touched me. It's a good reminder that we have today and tomorrow (as well as now) is in God's hands.

don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
And I don't borrow from the sunshine
'Cause the skies might turn to grey.

And I don't worry about the future,
'Cause I know what Jesus said,
And today I'm gonna walk right beside him
'Cause he's the one who knows what is ahead.

There are things about tomorrow
That I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

And each step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb.
And every burden is getting lighter
And all the clouds, their silver line.

And, I'll bet the sun it's always shining
And no tears will ever dim the eye
And the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains, they touch the sky.

There are many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
Yes I know who holds my hand.

  1. We must live for today. God holds everything in his hands.

  2. Thanks for sharing this song - it brings back lots of memories, both of singing this in the choir many times at church, as well as hearing my Dad sing it as part of a men's quartet, in his deep, rich bass voice. Sure do miss hearing that voice, since he's been gone for over 10 years! :-(

I think some of my favorite songs are those based on various Psalms and set to music for praise and worship. I also like the older hymns (probably for the same memories they stir as I mentioned), and particularly enjoy Carrie Underwood's rendition of How Great Thou Art.

    1. I miss my Dad's voice, too. He has been gone over 18 years. I love the old church songs and hymns, though I had never heard this one until last weekend. The Psalms do make for great songs.

    1. I had actually never heard it before either until a classmate sang it for devotions this past weekend. It is a great message.

  4. That's such a pretty song. I don't know much about hymns, but it reminds me of the broadway show Rent and its recurring theme of "No Day But Today". That was always my favorite part of the show.
