Song for Sunday: Beautiful Day

It's a beautiful day. The weather is nice -- sunny and cool. I got to worship, work with youth, celebrate a graduation with friends.

Today also would have been my Mom's 74th birthday. My friend Paul rode the PanMass challenge in memory of his wife but also my mother, in honor of his sister-in-law, but also my sister. We are grateful for him.

There is someplace I would rather be than here today, but that isn't what's happening.

So I try to enjoy today as it is... full of worship, work, celebration, memory, and longing. And it's a Beautiful Day, so the U2 song of that name became today's Song for Sunday.

What songs are you enjoying today?

  1. My two new fun songs are "Play It Again" and "It's All About the Bass." Neither are that meaningful or deep, but they have a playful melody and a nice message in the lyrics. I guess I like them for their catchy tune.

I'm sorry for your difficult memories, but eternally grateful for your friend and others like him. Hope your week is filled with blessings.

    1. My week plus has been filled with blessings... and I, also am very grateful for Paul. He's a real hero. And so are you, with your Avon Walk!

  2. I am a huge U2 fan and love this song. It seems more complete and more positive than some of their other songs ie. I still haven't found what I'm For. I listen to country more than anything else now but since I've been out of work after my surgery I haven't listen to much. I have spent more time outside on the patio surrounded by the gardens and rabbits I raise and I hear the church bells play This is My Father's World often. I listen to that tune and look around at the abundance of the gardens and rabbits I often hum my agreement with it's message.
